Following American President Barack Obama’s two-night stay in Trinidad during the Fifth Summit of the Americas, the Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre is managing to hold its own in a depressed tourism market, said general manager Ali Khan. Khan described Obama’s stay at the Hilton as a “once in a lifetime experience,” which has boosted the hotel’s image. “It was a unique experience and a historic one. It was also productive. We had two high profile guests: President Obama and (Secretary of State) Hillary Clinton.” Khan said the hotel staff put a lot of effort into preparing for Obama’s stay.
