Not far away, of course, Prime Minister Patrick Manning lives and hosts meetings in a majestic setting, retiring at nights—possibly to dream of an executive presidency—in a multi-million-dollar bedroom a sharp distance away from his nominal previous homes in Marabella and Vistabella.

Changes to the allocation and processing systems in Government's housing policy are coming, Minister of Planning, Housing and the Environment Emily Gaynor Dick-Forde says.

The minister said Cabinet had approved, in December 2008, a new system of allocation and distribution.

Court awaits valuation of Jamaat properties

If the State and Imam Yasin Abu Bakr cannot agree on a value of the 11 properties being put up for sale, the High Court will make an order for them to be valuated.

When the matter was called yesterday, no figure was put before Justice Rajendra Narine in the Port-of-Spain Second Criminal Court. Dana Seetahal, SC, who represents the Attorney General, pointed out that the defendants, the Jamaat al Muslimeen, would not be able to afford another valuation. She asked the judge to make an order for the properties to be valuated, and that the costs be split.
