The Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation provides "Defects Liability Cover" for the owners of new HDC homes. New units are covered for any structural, electrical or plumbing-related construction defects for the first six months of ownership. Any defects reported within this period will be repaired by the HDC. This service helps ensure that all new home owners are satisfied with the quality of their new unit and that any contractor-related defects are rectified shortly after purchase.
How do I report a defect?
Defects can be reported by:
- Using the online Maintenance Request Form.
- Calling the Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation's call centre at (868) 623-HOME (4663) or
- Visiting an HDC office.
A representative will contact you to obtain more detailed information regarding the problem and arrange for repair work to be conducted. The nature of the issue to be resolved will determine the length of time needed for repairs to be made. Please note that defects must be reported within six months of purchasing the unit.
